The winter transfer market is typically a time of feverish rumour and potential major moves. A number of notable footballers find themselves linked with moves away from their present clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the major names who could be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the player in contention, it appears an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a sizeable release clause applicable for a short window in early January. Recent developments suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to excel for Palace this season a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. As his deal set to run out in the close season, this represents the club's final opportunity to obtain a fee for their captain. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and several European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter departure remains difficult, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Although finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, he has started just a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the London club would be willing to consider a sale for the correct valuation, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

R. Neves

The Portugal playmaker might be poised for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Now only twenty-eight, and with his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barcelona following new manager Flick. After lost his place and had surgery, a January exit seems increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This prolific English centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might enhance his fading hopes of making the national squad. However, arranging a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as his Saudi club to victory in the domestic cup final.

Conor Gallagher

The dynamic midfielder attracted widespread interest in the summer but stayed at Atlético. Having limited starts in La Liga this term, he is keen to secure more playing time ahead of the tournament. Manchester United are heavily connected, and a move back to Selhurst Park, where he shone on a temporary deal, remains a possibility, though financial demands could prove a problem.

H. Elliott

Despite starring and being named player of the tournament at the U21 Euros in the summer, this talented midfielder has found it tough for game time on loan at Villa. The manager has stated the temporary transfer won't be made permanent. Because of specific rules regarding representing two clubs in a campaign, a return to his parent club before next season appears to be the only viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker has been in fine form for Juventus this term. With his existing deal nearing its end, a host of Premier League sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a race to keep one of Europe's most promising young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is widely expected to complete a major move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
